The inspection was carried out from December 9–13, 2024. It also included a review of the airport's readiness ahead of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
"We welcome the TSA inspection as a strategic step to maintain the implementation of civil aviation security standards," Assistant Deputy for Communication and Legal Affairs at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport M. Holik Muardi said on Friday.
"Our readiness guarantees safe and smooth flights for passengers, especially during the end-year holidays," he added.
The TSA is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the security of the transportation system, including airports and international flights, which are directly connected to the United States.
"This inspection was a part of the TSA assessment on the implementation of standards and appropriate recommended practices (SARPs)," Muardi informed.
According to the official, the activity was carried out to ensure that airport operations and international flights continue to comply with the established security standards.
Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, as Indonesia's main gateway, has expressed its readiness to welcome the Christmas and New Year holidays with optimal security standards, he said.
He informed that TSA inspected several facilities and services, including aircraft operators and aircraft repair facilities (maintenance, repair, and overhaul / MRO).
The process included checking procedural documents, security operation simulations, and field inspections to ensure security standards comply with international regulations.
Muardi informed that several flight operators at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport are also required to comply with aviation security regulations set by the TSA.
These civil aviation security standards and recommended practices refer to the provisions set out in Annex 17 Amendment 18 (Security) and Annex 14 (Aerodrome) of the Convention on International Civil Aviation.
"With the results of this inspection, Soekarno-Hatta International Airport reaffirms its commitment to complying with international standards to support global aviation safety," he said.
