Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Tourism Ni Luh Puspa reviewed the readiness of Blimbingsari Airport in Banyuwangi, East Java, on Friday to welcome tourist visits ahead of the 2024 year-end holidays.

She checked service facilities at the airport as prepared by the airport's management, according to a statement from her office on Saturday.

The review of airport service facilities includes passenger flow at baggage claim, cleanliness of toilets, traditional music performances, and the placement of posts set to operate from December 18.

Banyuwangi is included in the National Tourism Strategic Areas. Thus, she noted that its tourism facilities must be optimal to ensure safe and comfortable tourist visits.

The Tourism Ministry projected the number of domestic tourists traveling in December 2024 to reach 78.2 million and foreign tourists visiting Indonesia during the same period from 1.02 million to 1.32 million.

Tourist visits in 2024 have so far reached 11.57 million, nearing the upper target of 14.3 million.

"We are optimistic that the Christmas and New Year holidays in December can fulfill the upper target," Puspa said.

To meet the tourist visit target, she issued a circular on December 4 regarding the implementation of safe, comfortable, and enjoyable tourism activities for the year-end holidays.

"The circular was distributed to regional heads, particularly to tourism services in 38 provinces, as well as to tourism business associations and managers, to ensure excellent services," Puspa remarked.

She emphasized the need to prioritize the safety and comfort of tourists during the holidays.
