Tabanan, Bali (ANTARA) - The government is committed to making Bali the heart of Indonesian tourism, with its Quality Tourism motto, to increase the number of tourist visits to the island.

Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana conveyed this during her visit to the Jatiluwih Tourist Destination Area (DTW) in Tabanan, Bali, on Monday.

The United Nations Tourism named this tourist area one of the best in the world in 2024.

"I appreciate the award, and I am optimistic that tourist visits to Jatiluwih during the Christmas and New Year holidays will increase," she noted.

On the same occasion, Deputy Tourism Minister Ni Luh Puspa said her side would collaborate with the local government to develop infrastructure to support tourism in Bali.

"We will build a parking lot in Jatiluwih to reduce congestion during holidays, such as Christmas and New Year," she remarked.

Furthermore, she highlighted that Bali is famous for its customs and culture, whose traditions and local wisdom must be preserved.

"Let us work together to maintain Balinese culture," Puspa stated.

Meanwhile, Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Service Tjok Bagus Pemayun stated that Bali had become the driver of Indonesian tourism, where this area contributes 50 percent of tourist visits to Indonesia.

"Our office and the Tourism Ministry are committed to improving the tourism quality in Bali," he noted.

Meanwhile, head of Tabanan District, Komang Gede Sanjaya, stated that his region has been frequented by tourists, even for international meetings, such as visits from the World Water Forum delegation, for its success in maintaining local areas and cultures, such as Subak.

"We are working for three objectives, namely the community that maintains local wisdom, entrepreneurs who support, and the government that supports," Sanjaya affirmed.

He expressed hope that the Tourism Ministry would support all tourist attractions in Tabanan to develop their potential sustainably.
