Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) supports President Prabowo Subianto's commitment to the people's economy through directives that will be delivered during the 4th MUI National Working Conference (Mukernas).

This was conveyed by the chairperson of the Mukernas steering committee (SC), Masduki Baidlowi, in a statement issued on Saturday.

The conference will take place in Jakarta from December 17–19.

"President Prabowo has repeatedly conveyed his focus on the people's economy. Another term for this is constitutional economy, as stated in Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution," Baidlowi said.

He said that the people's economy, as described in Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution, was formulated by Mohammad Hatta, who was inspired by the concepts and implementation of economic policies in Scandinavia.

Baidlowi observed that the idea of people's economy has not run optimally since the time it was formulated. Therefore, MUI will support President Prabowo's commitment at the last Mukernas for the 2020–2025 management period.

"There are several key issues to be the focus of the MUI program, both at the central and regional levels," Baidlowi said.

Baidlowi highlighted that MUI is the only Islamic organization that carries out the entire process with ISO standard quality management.

"If we work without focus, we risk poor outcomes. Therefore, we must focus on implementing the plans we have carefully developed as a management priority. The planning that we have considered good, we will implement it, and that becomes the management's concern," he added.

In the meantime, the secretary of the SC for the meeting, Rofiqul Umam Ahmad, said that other important issues will be discussed at the meeting.

"We will report the signing of an MoU between MUI and three institutions, namely with Lemhanas for developing national insights and with BTPN Syariah regarding the empowerment of the sharia economy and micro, small, and medium enterprises," he said.

"We will also sign an MoU with UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta on developing human resources among Islamic mass organizations," Ahmad added.

The Mukernas is expected to be attended by 304 participants, including members of the MUI Advisory Council, the MUI Leadership Council, provincial leaders from across Indonesia, representatives of Islamic mass organizations, and other guests.

In addition, several high-ranking state officials, including cabinet ministers and foreign ambassadors to Indonesia, will join the event.
