Klaten, Central Java (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono inspected preparations for the Solo-Yogyakarta-Kulon Progo Airport Toll Road, especially the Klaten-Prambanan section, ahead of the year-end holidays.

"I am here to ensure that this 8.6-kilometer toll road section, linking Klaten to Prambanan, is prepared to help ease the traffic flow during the Christmas and New Year holidays," said Yudhoyono, popularly known as AHY, in Klaten, Central Java, on Tuesday.

AHY emphasized the need to ensure that the toll road section, planned for limited functional operations from December 20 to January 2, is safe and comfortable for travelers during the year-end holidays.

In this regard, he drew special attention to the installation of adequate lighting and traffic signs and precautionary steps to manage heavy traffic at the Prambanan intersection.

"We are aware that the Christmas and New Year holidays will lead to higher traffic congestion in this region. For that reason, we decided to operate this toll road functionally while continuing its development," he stated.

AHY affirmed that the government is coordinating with the police to identify the measures needed to ensure a smooth traffic flow during the holidays.

He affirmed that the government is committed to working towards safe, comfortable, and smooth year-end holiday trips for all travelers.

On that note, AHY highlighted that the government is pursuing collaboration among state institutions, including the ministries of public works and transportation, to ensure that all road transport infrastructures are well-prepared for the holidays.

"Hopefully, everything will run smoothly," he said.

According to the plan, the Klaten-Prambanan toll road section will open to people travelling from Solo to Yogyakarta and vice versa without charging any fees during the year-end holidays.
