Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, has emphasized that her office is ready to help people develop local intellectual properties (IP) and promote them globally to stimulate national economic growth.

"We can see the emergence of a large number of new intellectual properties created by citizens. It is important for the state to affirm its presence in this matter," she said in South Jakarta on Thursday.

Umar highlighted that the Ministry of Creative Economy has the responsibility to assist creators or owners of domestic intellectual properties in developing their work comprehensively in the upstream and upstream sectors.

She stressed that Indonesian IP deserves support from the government since plenty of creative economy products made domestically have been recognized globally through awards.

"Not only are Indonesian intellectual properties of high quality, but they have also met international standards," she pointed out.

The deputy minister further said that her ministry is committed to helping creative economy actors contribute to the growth of Indonesia's economy.

She added that the Ministry of Creative Economy will coordinate and exchange knowledge with other ministries to help the country's creative economy sector level up.

Earlier on December 12, 2024, the Law Ministry's director general of intellectual property, Razilu, said that the Indonesian government's commitment to intellectual property protection is evident from the destruction of counterfeit products.

The directorate general recently destroyed generators, drill bits, bags, shoes, luggage, baby pacifiers, and other products of fake or imitation brands.

Razilu affirmed that his office is open to those keen to register their original products and will take action against imitation products.

"Those who have registered (their products) for intellectual property are protected, and anyone who commits counterfeiting should be acted against. That is the function of our directorate general," he said in Jakarta.
