"The state is present for Sritex employees. This has become my commitment. We do not want the state and employers to lose," he informed at a press conference in Jakarta on Monday.
His ministry stated it respects the decision of the Supreme Court (MA), which rejected a plea for a judicial review filed by Sritex.
With this rejection, Sritex is still bankrupt based on the decision of the Semarang Commercial District Court (PN).
According to Gerungan, the Ministry of Manpower is optimistic about the fate of the Sritex management and workers.
"As a state, we have confidence that after the (Supreme) Court decision, Sritex's new management will not carry out lay-offs. There should not be lay-offs," he emphasized.
He then informed that Sritex is continuing to run operational activities amidst the Supreme Court's decision.

His ministry has prepared anticipatory steps to handle any lay-offs at Sritex in the future, such as the Job Loss Guarantee (JKP) program, opening a job market for the employees, and conducting training at the Job Training Center (BLK), especially in Semarang and Solo.
"That is the worst (case) scenario if lay-offs occur which is feared by the employees. We hope those efforts can be a solution, at least reducing anxiety among employees," he said.
Gerungan is also planning to visit Sritex next week to give a sense of assurance to employees.
"The Manpower Ministry is responsible for ensuring no lay-offs. We are not obliged to handle the restructuring or creditors takeover. We only need to ensure no lay-offs at the company," Gerungan disclosed.
Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto is said to have taken a firm stance on the Sritex issue, namely that there must be no lay-offs in the industry.
