Head of the Jakarta Tourism and Creative Economy Office Andhika Permata said that the city's new year eve's celebration with the theme "Semarak Jakarta Mendunia" or the "Lively Jakarta Goes Global" was not only to enliven New Year's Eve, but also to introduce Jakarta as a modern and creative global city.
"We invite all residents to attend the event and enjoy the amazing spirit of togetherness," Permata said here on Sunday.
He said that the Jakarta City's New Year Eve celebration is divided into several events. The first major event was titled 'Bentang Harapan JakASA'.
Jakarta residents can participate in the event by writing their wishes for the new year on the 500-meter long white cloth that will be prepared at the Jakarta City Hall, the five mayor's offices, as well as the Seribu Islands District Head office.
"This event takes place at 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. local time," Permata mentioned.
The other event is "Semarak Jakarta Mendunia" which will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in a number of locations.
"It is held at the HI Roundabout which has the main stage with performance shows from a number of well-known artists, such as Yura Yunita and RAN. There will be a light show, drone show and fireworks as well," Permata said.
In addition, there will be 14 entertainment stages prepared along Thamrin Street to Sudirman Street with many artists from various genres of music performing, such as folk music dangdut, pop, and rock.
"Then there is the Pesona Dekade at the Banteng Square, the Gemilang Silang Monas at the South Square of the National Monument, and the Jakarta Light Festival at the Kota Tua area," Permata said.
