Speaking at a New Year event at Bintan Resorts, Bintan district, Riau Islands province, she emphasized that the government is determined to ensure that the tourism sector benefits the people while preserving and promoting cultural values and local wisdom.
"This is in line with President Prabowo's Asta Cita missions, which include paving the way for an inclusive economy, pursuing equitable development, and preserving the environment and culture," she said in a statement released by her office here on Wednesday.
Puspa further pointed out that Indonesia's tourism sector witnessed positive trends in 2024, noting that the sector contributed 4.01 percent to the national gross domestic product in the first half of the year—higher than the 3.9 percent contribution recorded in 2023.
The deputy minister also cited data from Statistics Indonesia (BPS), highlighting that the number of foreign tourists reached 11.6 million as of October 2024, indicating that the total number for the year is likely to surpass the 11.7 million visits registered in 2023.
"We, at the Ministry of Tourism, have set the primary target for 2025, but we cannot work alone. Hence, we would like to invite all relevant stakeholders to work together toward a better tourism sector," she said.
Furthermore, the official noted that over the course of 2024, the Tourism Ministry supported the organization of 175 local events, 101 national events, and 31 international events.
"I am convinced that through innovation and collaboration, we will be able to organize world-class events that are beneficial to Indonesia's tourism," she said.
