In particular, the budget allocation is aimed at addressing issues related to the costs of departure, training, and holding empowerment activities.
"Because of Mr. Prabowo's attention and commitment, the Ministry of P2MI will receive Rp45 trillion in funds," Minister Karding informed here on Monday.
He said that the Rp45 trillion will be disbursed in three stages in tranches of Rp15 trillion over the five-year term of President Prabowo's government.
The P2MI Ministry will utilize these funds to assist migrant workers by offering very low-interest loans. It will also use the funds to cover migrant workers' departure costs to destination countries and training costs.
Minister Karding also outlined a plan to establish a public service agency (BLU) to manage the Rp45 trillion fund professionally and ensure that it provides maximum assistance to migrant workers.
The goal of the fund assistance, he said, is to enhance the protection of migrant workers and boost the country's foreign exchange earnings.
"With this budget, we truly aim to strengthen (migrant worker) protection," he added.
He said that his side will also use the fund to hold language workshops for migrant workers.
Nearly 95 percent of migrant workers who encounter problems abroad, such as exploitation and unfair treatment, among other things, are those who leave the country through non-procedural channels and lack the necessary skills.
Therefore, Karding said that the right solution to the issue is to increase the number of migrant workers who go abroad through legal channels.
