Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Budi Gunawan, on Tuesday monitored the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program at two schools in Jakarta.

They were public junior high school SMPN 61 Slipi in West Jakarta and senior high school SMAN 11 Cakung in East Jakarta.

An official press release from the ministry, received by ANTARA here on Tuesday, stated that during his visit, Gunawan praised those who had worked hard to provide the free nutritious meals.

“I am really impressed by the quality of the nutritious meal. The children also commented that the food tasted good,” he noted.

He said that the program must be carried out as effectively as possible to make sure that the nutritional needs of each student can be met properly.

Gunawan added that the program is necessary for creating a golden generation in Indonesia.

He expressed the hope that all parties will work together to ensure that the program runs optimally in all schools.

The minister said he believes that teachers are very important for ensuring that the program runs well.

“I would like to express my gratitude and appreciation to all those involved, from the team that prepared the meals to the teachers who not only taught but also assisted the students, and also supported the program,” he added.

According to him, teachers have a key role in motivating children to eat more healthily.

“Good nutritional intake will help boost children’s learning ability and create a more quality generation in the future,” he added.
