Jakarta (ANTARA) - Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions Minister Yandri Susanto emphasized that the utilization of village funds in 2025 will primarily focus on supporting various programs, including the eradication of extreme poverty and enhancing food security.

"For the use of village funds in 2025, the first focus is handling extreme poverty. We set (a target of) 15 percent," he remarked at the dissemination of information on Village Minister's Regulation Number 2 of 2024 in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Susanto explained that the priorities for village fund usage are outlined in the Village Minister's Regulation Number 2 of 2024 on operational guidelines for village fund use in 2025.

He highlighted that if a certain village achieves zero percent extreme poverty, then the utilization of the village fund in the first focus will be further regulated in the technical guidelines.

Secondly, he noted that the 2025 village funds are also prioritized to enhance the villages' adaptability to climate change.

"We are also working with the Ministry of Environment. We know that in villages now, there are many emergencies regarding waste and so on. We must take a serious approach," he remarked.

Third, village funds will also be used in 2025 to improve health promotion and the provision of basic health services, including initiatives to handle stunting.

Furthermore, in 2025, the use of village funds will focus on supporting food security programs.

The Village Minister's Regulation Number 2 of 2024 also mandated that at least 20 percent of village funds must be utilized for food security programs to realize food self-sufficiency.

In addition, this year, the village funds are prioritized to support the development of village potential and advantages, accelerate the implementation of digital villages and labor-intensive development, as well as other priority programs in villages.
