Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Religious Affairs Ministry is targeting to send one thousand da'i (Islamic preachers) to underdeveloped, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas during Ramadan 2025 to bolster religious literacy in regions with limited access to spiritual guidance.

The ministry's Director of Islamic Guidance, Ahmad Zayadi, stated that the program is part of the government's commitment to providing equitable religious services.

"Through collaboration with various parties, we want to ensure people in 3T areas can get adequate religious guidance during Ramadan," he noted in the ministry's statement here on Friday.

The Ministry of Religious Affairs is collaborating with strategic partners -- the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH), the Islamic Philanthropy Institute, Islamic banks, and the Islamic higher educational institute Ma'had Aly -- involved in this program.

He explained that this collaboration aims to support various operational and logistical aspects, including training, transportation, and meeting the needs of preachers on duty.

"Through this program, we want to provide multiple benefits, not only in the spiritual aspect but also economic strengthening, community empowerment, and poverty alleviation in the 3T areas," he remarked.

An official from the ministry's Sub-directorate of Islamic Da'wah and Holidays, Subhan, stated that the program of sending da'i has been ongoing since 2022, with the number of preachers increasing annually.

The number of preachers has grown from five in 2022 to 50 in 2023, then to 500 in 2024, and is projected to reach one thousand in 2025. These preachers are being deployed to 198 3T areas across 38 provinces.

As in previous years, he explained that the selected preachers will undergo intensive training in preaching methods, communication skills, and cultural adaptability.

"They are also equipped with knowledge of Islamic economics to support local economic empowerment," he stated.

The da'i recruitment for male and female candidates aged 25–40 years will take place from January to February 2025.

Subhan urged all stakeholders to support the program for its successful implementation and tangible benefits for the community.
