Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto will make a state visit to New Delhi as the chief guest of India’s 76th Republic Day ceremony, following an invitation from Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He will be in India from January 24 to 26, 2025.

“This visit will be President Prabowo Subianto’s first state visit to India, which will mark the 75th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Indonesia and India,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced Thursday.

The visit aims to strengthen the strategic comprehensive partnership between the two countries, established in 2018.

Upon his arrival, President Prabowo will receive a ceremonial welcome from President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the presidential palace.

On January 25, he will hold bilateral meetings with PM Modi at Hyderabad House.

He is also scheduled to visit the Raj Ghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.

Prabowo and Modi will also witness the exchange of several government-to-government memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in various sectors, including health, culture, education, maritime safety and security, and quality assurance of traditional medicine.

These MoUs are intended to further enhance the strategic partnership between the two nations.

On January 26, President Prabowo will attend India’s 76th Republic Day ceremony as the chief guest.

He will be the fourth Indonesian president to be invited to the event, which will also feature the historic participation of 352 Indonesian military personnel in the defile and marching band during the Republic Day parade.

“His visit to India underscores the flourishing strategic cooperation between Indonesia and India, particularly in economic, defense, and maritime affairs since the two countries reached an agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2018,” the ministry said.
