Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the downstreaming acceleration and national energy resilience task force, Bahlil Lahadalia, said that downstreaming must trigger economic growth.

At the task force's first meeting on Friday, Lahadalia, who is also the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, informed that his ministry has formulated strategic steps to carry out the orders of President Prabowo Subianto to increase investment and realization.

"The President wants the downstreaming to trigger economic growth, job creation, and bring added value creation, where the added value must be carried out in Indonesia," he said while delivering a press statement on Friday.

He added that downstreaming financing should be carried out domestically, in line with the President's direction.

"The President also asked us to formulate the downstreaming financing to be carried out in Indonesia. This aims to reduce the perception regarding foreigners gaining more benefit from Indonesia," he continued.

He further informed that his ministry will act as the post for the downstreaming task force for the next five years.

"The ministry will be our home to work for approximately five years until we await further direction from the President," Lahadalia pointed out.

President Prabowo officially formed the task force, which consists of several ministers and heads of institutions, through the issuance of Presidential Decree Number 1 of 2025.

The task force, regulated by Article 2 of the decree, is under the authority of the President and is directly responsible to him.

According to the decree, downstreaming acceleration will target several sectors such as minerals and coal, oil and gas, agriculture, forestry, and maritime and fisheries.

Downstreaming in these sectors aims to increase the added value of commodities produced domestically.
