"For that reason, we must support downstreaming processes, especially in the energy sector. It should be noted that both energy security and downstreaming are government priorities," the minister remarked at his office in Jakarta on Thursday.
He noted that the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning would take viable measures to drive Indonesia's downstreaming policy, with a special focus on agrarian affairs.
In this regard, Wahid highlighted that the ministry intends to address land requirements for downstreaming projects by fast-tracking and simplifying permit-obtaining processes.
"Such a measure is vital, considering that swiftness is key to fruitful downstreaming processes," he explained.

The minister also announced that the Task Force for the Acceleration of Downstreaming and National Energy Security plans to hold a meeting on Friday (January 17) morning.
President Prabowo has issued Presidential Decree No.1 of 2025, establishing the task force, which comprises several ministers, the attorney general, and the chief of the National Police.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia has been named as chair of the task force, while Minister Wahid has been appointed as deputy chair for land provision.
According to the presidential decree, the task force is mandated to fast-track downstream efforts across various sectors while bolstering Indonesia's energy security.
The decree, signed by the president on January 3, stipulates that the government prioritize the downstreaming of minerals, coal, oil, natural gas, agricultural yields, forestry products, and fishery commodities to boost their value.
