Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Development Planning Ministry (Bappenas) has forged collaboration with the Trade Ministry to increase Indonesia's competitiveness through domestic and global trade transformation.

"This collaboration is needed to face global challenges and improve Indonesia's participation in the global value chain," National Development Planning Minister Rachmat Pambudy said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

The synergy between the two ministries is important to ensure that Indonesia can compete in global trade and script economic growth, he added.

Therefore, the two ministries have committed to strengthening export competitiveness by increasing product added value, expanding market access, as well as integrating the domestic and global economies.

In the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN), the focus of trade policy direction is increasing Indonesia's export market control at the global level, with the target export share climbing from 1.2 percent in 2022 to 2.4 percent in 2045.

The strategic steps include strengthening participation in the global supply chain, increasing the share of exports of high-value-added goods and services, as well as increasing economic linkages between growth centers.

The external challenges include the global economic slowdown, geopolitical instability, and demands to adopt green product standards.

Meanwhile, the internal challenges include low competitiveness of export products, suboptimal infrastructure, and trade disparities between regions.

As a solution, Bappenas is developing a Trade Data Dashboard to assist stakeholders in identifying regional export potential, as well as encouraging free trade area (FTA) and comprehensive economic partnership agreements (CEPA) to push up exports.

"Bappenas and the Trade Ministry are committed to continue the cooperation in supporting inclusive and sustainable economic growth in order to achieve the national development vision," Minister Pambudy added.
