Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has confirmed that the development of Nusantara, Indonesia's new capital in East Kalimantan, will continue until 2029.

This was stated by Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, popularly known as AHY, following a meeting with Prabowo in Jakarta on Monday.

The meeting was also attended by Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) Chief Basuki Hadimuljono and Minister of Public Works Dodi Hanggodo.

"The development of Nusantara will continue, and the President has ensured an allocated budget of Rp48.8 trillion for the period of 2025–2029," AHY told reporters.

He added that the budget would be adjusted according to the development plans and the current conditions.

"There are some adjustments that require time. Hopefully, they can be finalized and implemented soon," AHY stated.

During the meeting, Hadimuljono mentioned that the allocated budget for Nusantara development this year amounts to Rp14.4 trillion, out of the total Rp48.8 trillion (nearly USD3 billion) set for the next five years.

Prabowo has signed Presidential Instruction No. 1 of 2025 regarding budget-saving policies. As a result, this year’s Nusantara development budget has been reduced by more than half.

Hadimuljono added that OIKN has been requested to submit a letter to the Minister of Finance regarding the budget adjustment.
