Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Government is committed to strengthening infrastructure development through collaboration with international institutions, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono stated on Tuesday.

Yudhoyono, popularly known as AHY, earlier met with representatives from the World Bank, the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Jakarta.

"We must ensure that infrastructure development continues to achieve the target of eight percent economic growth and realize self-sufficiency in food, energy, and water," AHY stated.

He remarked that the government’s main priorities include implementing strategic projects, promoting equitable development, and ensuring the sustainability of both physical and digital infrastructure.

AHY emphasized that infrastructure serves as the backbone of national economic growth, ultimately helping reduce economic disparities and improve public welfare.

He also highlighted the importance of inclusive infrastructure development in addressing economic imbalances between Java and other islands.

"Our key focus is to bridge the gap between Java and non-Java regions and to narrow the digital divide, which remains a significant challenge for Indonesia," he remarked.

AHY noted that the government remains committed to continuing infrastructure development despite budgetary constraints. A dedicated team will be formed to accelerate housing and basic infrastructure development.

During his meeting with representatives of global financial institutions, AHY presented a roadmap for infrastructure development over the next five years.

The key planned projects include a large seawall to mitigate land subsidence in Jakarta, the Jakarta–Surabaya high-speed rail line, and the construction of three million houses per year.

"I am optimistic that partnerships with international institutions will continue to strengthen and generate innovative solutions that align with Indonesia’s challenges," AHY stated.

Manuela Ferro and Hiroshi Matano from the World Bank expressed their support for sustainable infrastructure development in Indonesia.

They emphasized the importance of collaboration between the government and the private sector in infrastructure financing to achieve optimal outcomes.
