Jakarta (ANTARA) - Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) Nezar Patria has invited investors and technology firms from the European Union to explore opportunities in Indonesia's cloud computing and data management sectors.

The invitation was extended during a meeting with the Chairman of the EU-ASEAN Business Council, Jens Rübbert, at the Komdigi Ministry headquarters in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (February 5).

In an official statement released on Thursday, Patria emphasized that the Indonesian government is committed to collaborating with industry players and relevant stakeholders to foster an inclusive and secure digital ecosystem.

"Indonesia is ready to collaborate with the EU-ASEAN Business Council and its member companies to navigate this transformation," he stated.

The deputy minister also emphasized the importance of synergy among all relevant parties to set up a safe digital space for future generations.

As part of this effort, Patria highlighted that the government is drafting regulations aimed at enhancing online safety for children.

"The Indonesian government has been actively strengthening its policies with the aim of combating online threats, preventing digital exploitation, and promoting digital literacy among young internet users," he elaborated.

He deemed it crucial that digital platform operators take part in identifying ways to synchronize regulations and business innovations, with the end goal of cracking down on illegal digital items of content.

Chairman Rübbert, for his part, voiced his delegation's keenness to place capital in Indonesia, saying that 49 companies across industries in his council have expressed interest in receiving updates on the country's digitization efforts.

He expressed hope that the cooperation between the EU-ASEAN Business Council and Indonesia would bring about mutual benefits amid global geopolitical challenges.

In this meeting, Nezar was accompanied by the Director General of Digital Space Supervision, Alexander Sabar, and attended by representatives from various industries.
