According to the MPR deputy speaker, the government must prioritize several key programs to achieve various development targets in the cultural sector.
"In the midst of budget efficiency implemented by the government in a number of ministries and agencies, efforts that focus on a number of priority programs are the appropriate step," she remarked here on Friday.
Moerdijat drew attention to several challenges in developing Indonesia's national cultural sector that necessitated immediate attention and creative solutions from stakeholders at the central and regional levels.
She underscored the need for stakeholders to harbor a shared vision for cultural development to achieve the set targets.
"Therefore, I hope that the community, along with stakeholders at the central and regional levels, can work together to develop Indonesia's culture," she remarked.
By doing so, she believes that a healthy and thriving culture can strengthen the country's national identity, character, and competitiveness, ultimately benefiting the wider community.
Earlier in the week, Minister of Culture Fadli Zon announced several priority programs within his ministry amid the efficiency policy directed by President Prabowo Subianto.
The Culture Ministry's priority programs include the revitalization of cultural areas, cultural heritage, and museums, as well as the repatriation of cultural artifacts from abroad, such as historical manuscripts stored in the United Kingdom and the Prasasti Pucangan inscription located in India.
Other priority programs include the advancement of national culture through the protection of endangered regional languages to ensure their preservation.
