The collaboration opportunities were discussed at a meeting between Villages and PDT Minister Yandri Susanto and Deputy Minister of PKP Fahri Hamzah in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Hamzah remarked that the government planned to build three million houses, allocating one million each for urban, rural, and coastal areas.
"We assume the coastal areas are part of villages, as most of Indonesia's around 12 thousand coastal areas are located in villages," he explained.
According to Hamzah, villages would play a significant role in the program by involving MSMEs, cooperatives, and Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes).
Hamzah added that housing development would involve 185 sectors in the future.
Therefore, cooperation between the two ministries is crucial for the success of the three million housing program initiated by the government.
"The two parties are prioritizing poverty eradication. The housing program is only the tool," Hamzah noted.
Meanwhile, Minister Susanto welcomed the opportunity for this collaboration.
He expressed his commitment to supporting President Prabowo Subianto's policy through the three million housing program.
He believes that the two ministries can synergize various sectors for this program.
Therefore, his side will draft concepts and models in several villages to serve as pilot programs.
He then stated that private companies would also be involved in the pilot program, with around 15 percent of the village funds allocated for extreme poverty and foreign aid, or funds from the central government, potentially used for the pilot program.
"Once the pilot project succeeds, we only need to replicate it in other areas, based on the capabilities of each village, including coastal housing. We will also have an MoU with the minister of marine affairs and fisheries," he remarked.
