Linyi, China, (ANTARA/Xinhua-AsiaNet)- "Wherever there's a can, there's the local can!" This saying refers to Difang Town, Pingyi County, a small town in Linyi City, Shandong Province. It began developing in the mid-1980s and currently processes 900,000 tons of various canned fruits and vegetables annually, earning the titles of "China's Canned Goods Capital" and "China's Capital of Fruit Canned Goods."

Over the past 40 years, Pingyi's canning sector has continually optimized its structure and advanced its transformation. From humble family-run workshops, the sector has blossomed into a full-fledged industrial cluster, primarily centered around canning processing enterprises.

Today, the county is home to 115 canning processing and related businesses, producing over 30 categories and more than 1,000 individual products, including fruits, vegetables, meats, and seafood, with a total output value of 13 billion yuan. It has established business relationships for distribution and agency with over 30 countries and regions, including the United States, Japan, accounting for over 80% of its total exports. Notably, eight canning companies, including Qiwei, Huihuang, and Yuquan, hold foreign trade qualifications and export products to international markets, forming a multi-level and diversified market pattern.

In recent years, Pingyi County has set its sights on becoming China's largest deep-processing industrial cluster for canned goods. By leveraging its strengths, strengthening its unique features, and enhancing its supply chain, the county is driving a new wave of innovation and upgrading in the sector. Remarkably, from harvest to finished product, a can of seasonal fruits or vegetables can be processed within just six hours. Every step in the process is handled by local suppliers to ensure raw materials are stored and delivered to sales outlets within 24 hours, ensuring that the products are "freshly locked in" for consumers.

Today, Pingyi County boasts a fully integrated supply chain, including glass bottle production, tin can manufacturing, colorful packaging, and logistics distribution. This comprehensive industrial cluster continues to drive technological innovation, positioning the county at the forefront of the industry. The 10-billion-level canning sector has become a key driving force for rural revitalization, fostering common prosperity and contributing to high-quality development.
