Bekasi, West Java (ANTARA) - Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Meutya Hafid, said she is optimistic that Indonesia can produce nine million digital talents by 2030 through collaboration across various sectors.

One such collaboration has been forged with Amazon Web Services (AWS) for the Digital Talent Scholarship program for young Indonesians.

"We have been informed that AWS has provided training for 800 thousand digital talents. Our target is to create nine million digital talents by 2030," Hafid said at the Information and Communication Technology Training and Development Center (BPPTIK) here on Wednesday.

Hafid said that with expansive digital talent training, she is optimistic Indonesia will not fall behind in technological advancement, especially in artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

She also asked that the digital talent training program be carried out in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

"Therefore, looking at these numbers, we can feel optimistic, and the government asks all various stakeholders to participate in building the nation together," Hafid stated.

She lauded the AWS for providing access to a cloud computing-based curriculum. In addition, practical training and industry-recognized certifications will also be made available during the training.

She expressed the hope that the contribution of AWS to the training and development of digital talents in the country will result in technological advancement and produce a talented generation skilled in information technology and AI.

"We are waiting for others joining (in training digital talents) because this is education for the nation. Of course, it is not only the government's responsibility, but also involves others to play the market in Indonesia," she said.

Earlier, Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs, Nezar Patria, said that the government is working with several parties to address the shortage of digital talents in Indonesia.

"We are working with many parties to address or reduce what we call the digital talent gap," he said on February 17, 2025.
