"As an external supervisor, the Ombudsman will continue to supervise Danantara's fund management to prevent deviation. That is our focus," Najih stated when met at his office here Monday.
The chairman views Danantara's establishment as a brilliant idea that deserves support.
Najih noted that the Ombudsman's supervision of Danantara aims to ensure that the agency operates in accordance with its intended objectives.
"Do not let this noble goal be deviated by certain individuals," he reminded.
He considered this institution as exceptional as it collected trillions of rupiah in funds, one of which was through efficiency.
Nevertheless, he warned that improper management could render Danantara ineffective.
Consequently, Naijh expressed hope that authorities at Danantara would be accountable by transparently publishing the funds' management.
"The Ombudsman, as a public service provider supervisory institution, certainly focuses on aspects related to its public services. We are ready to supervise the management of BPI Danantara in accordance with its purpose," Najih affirmed.
On Monday, President Prabowo Subianto, accompanied by Indonesian seventh President Joko Widodo and sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, officially launched BPI Danantara by jointly pressing a button.
"On Monday, February 24, 2025, I, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, launch the Daya Anagata Nusantara Danantara Indonesia Investment Management Agency," he stated.
As Indonesia's sovereign wealth fund, Danantara will manage assets worth over USD900 billion, with initial funding projections reaching USD20 billion.
Prabowo said Danantara's managed funds will be utilized to finance sustainable and high-impact projects in various sectors, such as renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, downstream industries, and food production.
