This synergy was marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by the two ministries on Monday. The MoU covers cooperation in strengthening domestic supply chains, increasing human resource capacity, and increasing financing support, among others.
Deputy Minister of Trade Dyah Roro Esti said that the MoU is a strategic step by both ministries to bolster synergy to encourage national economic growth through MSMEs.
In addition, it aims to improve the competitiveness of Indonesian products and expand their access to domestic and global markets.
"Through this collaboration, we will focus on utilizing all shared resources to create greater added value for the national economy," she informed.
Esti noted that MSMEs, which contribute 61 percent to the national gross domestic product (GDP), have a fundamental role as drivers of the Indonesian economy and play a role in creating jobs and reducing the unemployment rate.
The Ministry of Trade is continuing to boost the competitiveness of MSMEs through three main pillars, namely the development of export products, business players, and export markets.
"These efforts are being made to increase MSMEs' contribution in supporting the achievement of the national export growth target of 7.1 percent this year," she added.
On the same occasion, Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said that the ministerial synergy aims to make Indonesian MSMEs known on the global stage.
The cooperation and guidance of the Ministry of SOEs and the Ministry of Trade could help enable MSMEs to expand their market access, he added.
In the last five years, the Ministry of SOEs has provided significant support to MSMEs, ranging from financing to exploring larger markets.
