Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto joined the closing ceremony of the 6th Indonesian Democratic Party (Demokrat) Congress here on Tuesday evening with Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka and Minister of State Secretary, Prasetyo Hadi, in tow.

The President received a warm welcome from chairperson of the Demokrat Party's High Council, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), and general chairperson of the Demokrat Party's Central executive board, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY).

Dressed in a gray suit and tie with light and dark blue stripes, Prabowo shook hands with SBY. They engaged in a brief conversation of two minutes. Next, VP Gibran shook hands with SBY.

The President then walked to his seat, accompanied by SBY and AHY. As he made his way, he was greeted by high-level Demokrat members.

The President's arrival signaled the start of the closing of the 6th Demokrat Party Congress, which began with the singing of the national anthem Indonesia Raya, followed by a political speech from AHY.

President Prabowo also delivered a speech to Demokrat cadres at the event.

Nearly all officials from both the executive and legislative branches, including members of the Merah Putih (Red and White) Cabinet, were present at the closing ceremony.

Political party leaders, particularly from the Advanced Indonesian Coalition (KIM) Plus, were also in attendance.

Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR), Puan Maharani, who is also chairperson of the Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) central executive board, attended the closing ceremony with Bambang Wuryanto.

The two leaders of PDI-P represented the party's general chair, Megawati Soekarnoputri.

The two-day Demokrat Party Congress started on Monday (February 24).

On the first day of the Congress, the Demokrat Party's Plenary Session officially re-elected Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono as the party's chair, while Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was re-elected as chair of the party's high council, for the 2025–2030 period.

The Demokrat Party is a supporting party for the Prabowo-Gibran government and is a part of the Advanced Indonesian Coalition (KIM).
