The minister symbolically transferred the tactical vehicles to the military and police institutions at Husein Sastranegara Air Base in Bandung City, West Java Province, on Saturday.
Sjamsoeddin described the handover ceremony as a historic moment that clearly demonstrated the Indonesian defense industry's ability to produce reliable vehicles and the country’s commitment to deploying them for operational purposes.
He also highlighted that while the plan is to procure up to four thousand Maung MV3 units, the Defense Ministry has decided to hand them over in stages due to PT Pindad's limited production capacity.
Elaborating on the vehicles' allocation, he noted that 50 units have been handed over to the TNI headquarters, 400 units to the Army (TNI-AD), 100 units to the Navy (TNI-AL), 100 units to the Air Force (TNI-AU), and 50 units to the Polri.
The minister reiterated that the handover of the tactical vehicles serves as proof of the rise of the Indonesian defense industry, showcasing its capacity to contribute to efforts in maintaining national stability.
Sjamsoeddin further highlighted the government's steadfast commitment to providing operational support to the TNI and Polri, the guardians of Indonesia's sovereignty.
TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto, Polri Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, Chief of Staff of the TNI-AD General Maruli Simanjuntak, Chief of Staff of the TNI-AU Marshal Tonny Harjono, and Chief of Staff of the TNI-AL Admiral Muhammad Ali also attended the handover ceremony.
Before the handover, these high-ranking security officers inspected the Maung MV3 units customized with colors matching those of each receiving institution.
