“The Jakarta Provincial Government will fully support the implementation and preparation for the Eid exodus, and if the central government decides to go ahead with WFA,” he remarked here on Monday.
He believes that WFA can help ease traffic congestion and crowds during the Eid homecoming period.
Wibowo revealed that the Jakarta Provincial Government will prepare a free homecoming program for Jakarta's residents by providing 520 buses.
In view of this, his side will coordinate with the Ministry of Transportation to ensure the smooth execution of the free homecoming program.
“Another point I discussed with the Minister of Transportation is that after Eid al-Fitr, there will surely be newcomers to Jakarta, possibly in larger numbers. Therefore, we need to prepare for this early," he remarked.
Wibowo clarified that while his side welcomes everyone to Jakarta, effective management to necessary to avoid potential problems.
He stressed that Jakarta remains an attractive destination for newcomers looking for employment opportunities.
“Under my leadership, Jakarta will be open and welcoming but also firm. We will develop strategies to handle the influx of newcomers,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that his meeting with the Jakarta governor on Monday was aimed at coordinating public transportation issues and preparations for the 2025 Eid travel.
"Jakarta is a top origin area of travelers, so we hope that through our collaboration with the provincial government, the 2025 Eid travel will go smoothly,” he remarked.
