The visit aims to ensure proper assistance for refugees in accordance with the direction of President Prabowo Subianto.
Yusuf said his side supported disaster mitigation by providing logistics and shelters for affected residents.
"As of Tuesday night, we have sent mattresses, pillows, medicines, clothes, ready-to-eat food, and tents. We also opened a public kitchen in Jatiasih Sub-district," the minister noted in a statement on Wednesday.
So far, the ministry has distributed aid worth Rp561 million (USD33 thousand), which includes 3,500 ready-to-eat food packages, 500 blankets, 400 mattresses, 100 kidsware packages, 50 roll-up tent packages, and three rubber boats to support the residents' evacuation.
Yusuf revealed that his side also provided special assistance for children and psychosocial services. Pregnant women and children are a priority in this service.
"We will fulfill the residents' needs, such as food and other requirements. As long as they are still in evacuation camps, they have become our responsibility," he emphasized.
Meanwhile, the Head of BNPB, Suharyanto, identified two main evacuation sites in Bekasi City, one being the BNPB Warehouse, which housed around 297 families or 600 people.
According to Suharyanto, the flooding in Bekasi was one of the most severe in Greater Jakarta.
Weather modification efforts have been carried out to reduce the impact.
Suharyanto noted that floods in several areas started receding due to cooperation among various parties in mitigation efforts.
The BNPB has deployed personnel to evacuate residents still trapped in their flooded houses, working in conjunction with the regional disaster mitigation teams, military, and police.
In addition, disaster preparedness cadets (Tagana) and volunteers are deployed to open public kitchens and provide health services at evacuation camps.
According to the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysical Agency (BMKG), floodwaters reaching a height of 1–4 meters flowed downstream from the Ciliwung river basin (DAS) in Puncak, Bogor, to several areas in Bekasi, Jakarta, and Depok.
The flash floods were triggered by heavy rainfall in the past few days.
The extreme rainfall is believed to have caused the Ciliwung DAS to overflow. The resulting flash floods inundated several sub-districts in Bogor city and Bogor district, with floodwaters moving downstream to Jakarta, Depok, Bekasi, and Tangerang.
