"We want youngsters to not only use (technology) but also act as pioneers that shape the future of this nation's digital landscape," Hafid noted in the ministry's release here on Thursday.
During an audience with representatives of the Pemuda Katolik (Catholic Youths) organization at her office in Jakarta on Tuesday (March 4), Hafid highlighted that the Komdigi Ministry has devised several initiatives to help young talents embrace digital transformation.
She cited the Digital Talent Scholarship program and the 1,000 Digital Startups movement as examples.
The minister affirmed that digital transformation is integral to President Prabowo Subianto's eight primary missions, collectively called the Asta Cita.
Hence, Hafid said her ministry would always welcome and seize opportunities to collaborate with youth organizations that share similar goals.
"Given their high level of adaptability and creativity, youth can be seen as the main pillar of our digitization efforts. This nation will experience lags in the global digital competition arena if we do not empower our youngsters from now," she stated.
In this regard, Hafid lauded Pemuda Katolik for its contributions to building people's digital literacy.
Meanwhile, the organization's central board chairman, Stefanus Asat Gusma, underlined that his side had launched the Transformation-Driver Youths program in 18 dioceses across Indonesia.
He explained that this program aims to enhance the nation's digital literacy while encouraging young Catholics to actively combat hoaxes by spreading valid information.
"Pemuka Katolik is also developing the Connected Villages app, which maps the potential of villages located in transmigration regions to promote the use of local food materials," he remarked.
Gusma also invited Minister Hafid to his organization's national work meeting scheduled for April 25-27 in Bogor, West Java. The event is set to focus on President Prabowo's Asta Cita.
