"Collaboration between universities must be carried out. We need to focus on research and innovation on certain products that can meet the needs of the community and industries," Yuliarto noted in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday.
Yuliarto remarked that research has been conducted in various fields but often lacks direction in specific areas. As a result, many research findings fail to evolve into usable products for industries.
Hence, he stressed the importance of his ministry monitoring ongoing research to ensure it aligns with current needs and challenges.
"We will ensure that the research can run well and is directed so that the existing problems can be responded to with the innovation created by our universities," he remarked.
Furthermore, the minister emphasized the importance of collaboration among various stakeholders, particularly in agriculture, involving the government and industry players.
The goal of this collaboration is to motivate industries to contribute to the growth of the agricultural sector.
Yuliarto noted that collaboration between institutions and industries should be strengthened, given that the major challenge in research lies in translating research results into practical applications within the industrial sphere.
"The president also emphasized the importance of being independent in developing research products. To this end, we must work harder so that research results can become products that are ready to be marketed," he stressed.
Furthermore, he emphasized the necessity of developing exceptional human resources capable of fulfilling industry requirements and producing high-quality university graduates.
