Maharani expressed optimism that the amendments and decisions made in the TNI Bill would be the best for the nation.
At the Parliament Complex here on Tuesday, she explained that all elements of society are invited to provide feedback on the TNI Bill.
“We hope what will be decided later is the best for the nation and the state,” she affirmed.
She remarked that the DPR Commission I would hold a hearing with the defense minister on Tuesday.
According to the minister, several crucial matters regarding the bill will be discussed.
Maharani noted that the statement by TNI Commander Agus Subiyanto, requiring TNI soldiers to retire early if they serve in another government agency, is grounded in the current TNI law provisions.
“The commander, of course, follows the current TNI law, so we will see later how it will be implemented, whether it will be revised, and of course it will depend on the results of the hearing and input from the community,” she remarked.
Earlier, the DPR Plenary Meeting on Tuesday (February 18) approved the Bill on the Amendment of Law No. 34 of 2004 to enter and be prioritized in the 2025 National Legislative Program.
The TNI Bill was proposed to be included in the 2025 Priority National Legislative Program based on Presidential Letter Number R12/Pres/02/2025 dated February 13, 2025.
Thus, the Bill also becomes a government initiative proposal.
