Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto officially launched a new mechanism for distributing allowances to civil servant (ASN) teachers in regions through direct transfers.

"By saying in the name of God, this afternoon, Thursday, March 13, 2025, I, Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, launch a new mechanism for the direct transfer of allowances for ASN teachers in the regions into the teachers' accounts," he announced here on Thursday.

The new mechanism is a follow-up step by the Primary and Secondary Education Ministry to Prabowo's directive to accelerate priority development and programs in the education sector.

Under the revised policy, the ministry has changed the procedure for distributing allowances to regional ASN teachers, which are funded through the Special Allocation Fund.

Previously, these allowances were processed through regional general accounts. Now, the funds will be transferred directly from the Ministry of Finance to teachers' individual accounts.

This change aims to streamline bureaucracy, ensuring that payments are made more efficiently and on time.

On a previous occasion, Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, had explained the new mechanism.

He said that the government will transfer teacher allowances directly to their accounts, without routing them through regional governments.

"We will have direct transfers of teacher allowances, which were previously transferred through regional government accounts," Mu'ti said on March 10, 2025.

"They will now be transferred directly to the teachers' accounts without going through the regional government, directly from the Ministry of Finance," he added.

He said that the regulations or legal framework for the direct transfer of teacher allowances has also been finalized.
