Speaking in Jakarta on Monday, the ministry's Head of the Industrial Services Policy Standardization Agency (BSKJI), Andi Rizaldi, identified cement, textiles, steel/metal, paper pulp, ceramics and glasses, food and beverage, fertilizers, transportation means, and chemicals as key industrial sub-sectors.
He noted that collecting data on each subsector's ability to generate carbon emissions is necessary to realize this aim and reduce the amount of emissions generated by industries by 912 million tons by 2030, as mandated by Indonesia's Enhanced Nationally Determined Contribution document.
He remarked that, to this end, the Ministry of Industry requires support from other ministries and relevant institutions.
Rizaldi further noted that his office is determined to provide a higher level of convenience in administrative matters for industry players by making the most of the National Industrial Information System (SIINas).
"We do not want to burden industries with cumbersome administrative obligations. They can simply submit reports once through the SIINas," he stated.
