Kudus, Central Java (ANTARA) - Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, has said that damaged schools will receive budget assistance from the central government for carrying out repairs.

"Nationally, there are a total of 10,440 schools that will receive repair assistance. Schools in Kudus district will also receive this support," he disclosed after visiting public elementary school SD 3 Pasuruhan Lor in Jati District, Kudus, on Thursday.

Minister Mu'ti also visited flood-affected schools in the area.

"We are assessing the condition of the schools and observing (students) learning processes. We are also following up on President Prabowo Subianto's flagship program to renovate schools in Indonesia," he informed.

He said that the program aims to renovate school infrastructure and facilities damaged by flooding or natural disasters, or that have suffered age-related damage.

Besides the budget from the central government, the Kudus regional government has also prepared a budget for repairing damaged schools, he added.

Meanwhile, head of the Kudus District Education, Youth, and Sports Office, Harjuna Widada, informed that the budget from the central government is no longer managed independently by schools, but handed over to the Central Java Province Public Works Office instead.

This year, the Kudus district government has allocated Rp9.37 billion from its regional budget for the repair of 58 elementary and junior high school buildings with varying degrees of damage.

Building integrated quality schools in every district as well as repairing damaged schools are among the quick-win programs of President Prabowo.

These programs are expected to have a direct impact on the community, while establishing a stronger foundation for achieving the vision of Golden Indonesia, or making Indonesia an advanced country by 2045.
