"To assist the public, we have successfully reduced domestic flight ticket prices by up to 13 percent," he informed in his introductory speech at the Plenary Cabinet Session at the Presidential Palace complex here on Friday.
He said that the policy on airfare reductions will be effective from March 24 to April 7, 2025. He also called for further cuts in flight ticket prices.
In addition, the government will lower toll fees by 20 percent on various routes for two weeks during the exodus period. A 25-percent discount will also be provided on the purchase of train tickets on specified dates.
Several ministries and agencies are offering the free homecoming program to ease the people's burden, besides discounts of up to 50 percent for mobile service packages.
"I thank several ministries/agencies for issuing policies to help alleviate the burden on the community," the President stated.
He expressed the hope that Eid exodus preparations will be effective and ensure smooth traffic flow on land, rail, air, and sea routes.
Minister of Transportation, Dudy Purwagandhi, will lead the control and coordination efforts in this matter, he said.
Prabowo informed that Trade Minister Budi Santoso will monitor the availability of food supplies and the prices of staple goods.
The government is also anticipating an increase in the tourism sector, and the Tourism Ministry has been asked to prepare the necessary measures, he added.
He said that security affairs during the Eid homecoming season will be coordinated by the National Police, the Indonesian Military, the State Intelligence Agency (BIN), and the Ministry of Transportation.
