"We are committed to delivering a secure and well-managed Eid transportation experience this year," stated Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi during a visit to the Port of Merak, Banten, on Sunday.
Minister Purwagandhi outlined ongoing preparations for the 2025 Eid homecoming, which include ensuring the availability of adequate transportation facilities and infrastructure. This encompasses the deployment of 30,451 buses, 772 ships, 404 aircraft, and 2,550 trains.
To guarantee operational safety, the Ministry is conducting thorough feasibility tests, including ramp checks, on all transportation fleets.
Concurrent with these preparations, the Ministry is fostering robust cross-sectoral coordination, engaging with relevant ministries, institutions, the Indonesian National Armed Forces, the Indonesian National Police, security agencies, local administrations, and transportation operators.
"We are maximizing the capabilities of the Transportation Information Center (Pusintrans) and the Eid Transportation Command Post, which will operate 24/7 to monitor all transportation modes," the Minister added.
Beyond infrastructure and safety measures, the government and stakeholders are implementing initiatives to ease travel burdens, including offering free homecoming trips, reducing airfare by 13-14 percent between March 24 and April 7, implementing a 20 percent toll fee discount, and providing up to a 25 percent reduction in train ticket prices on select dates.
During a plenary cabinet meeting on Friday, March 21, President Prabowo emphasized the critical need for well-organized transportation during the homecoming and Eid celebrations.
"I expect meticulous planning for the homecoming, ensuring seamless traffic flow across all modes of transportation—land, rail, air, and sea. The Minister of Transportation is tasked with leading and coordinating these efforts," President Prabowo stated.
