He extended the ministry's condolences over the death of Rosalina Rerek Sogen, an elementary school teacher from Lewotala Village, Lewolema Sub-district, East Flores District, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) Province.
"We express our deepest condolences for the loss of a teacher due to the KKB attack. We will meet with the family of the victim in NTT and are trying to provide assistance even though it may not be much," he remarked here on Monday.
He voiced hope that such violence would not recur, especially against teachers and educational personnel tasked with serving in Indonesia's frontier, outermost, and disadvantaged (3T) regions.
"We have also communicated with security authorities due to the many issues faced by teachers working in certain areas, such as in Papua, where security issues persist," he stated.
Earlier, Yahukimo Police Chief, Adjunct Senior Commissioner Heru Hidayanto, confirmed the report of a KKB attack that affected teachers in Anggruk, Yahukimo, Highland Papua.
According to the report, the incident took place on Friday, March 21, at around 4:00 p.m. local time.
In addition to one fatality, six others sustained injuries.
According to the Ministry of Human Rights, among the seven victims attacked, six were from NTT and one from Sorong, Southwest Papua. The victims comprised six teachers and a health worker.
Among the seven victims evacuated were Sogen, who was a teacher found dead with severe injuries, three victims with serious injuries—Vidi, Cosmas, and Tari—alongside three others with minor injuries—Vanti, Paskalia, and Irmawati.
