Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan met with domestic investors to discuss the current national economic conditions.

In his Instagram account @luhut.pandjaitan post, as quoted here on Monday, Pandjaitan expressed keenness to gather inputs from local investors about the challenges they are facing.

“I believe that effective communication can help in formulating (solutions) for problems,” Pandjaitan remarked.

The DEN chairman pointed out that the current global situation is quite challenging due to market volatility, geopolitical uncertainty, and commodity price fluctuations, which have prompted investors to choose a wait-and-watch approach.

Pandjaitan emphasized that Indonesia must acknowledge the substantial challenges its competitiveness as an emerging market has faced over the last decade.

“This is a signal to improve the investment ecosystem as a whole,” he stated.

During the meeting with investors, Pandjaitan echoed the government's commitment to deregulation. He affirmed that simplifying regulations is key to creating a healthy and attractive business climate.

On the other hand, programs, such as Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) and government technology (govtech), will continue to be maximized to support efficiency and transparency.

He underscored the need for all feedback from investors to be communicated to President Prabowo Subianto.

“I realize that the government's good intentions must be accompanied by sincere and open communication. It is not enough to have good policies. There must also be openness to receive input from market players,” he stated.

With simpler regulations, on-target policies, and synergy between the government and market players, he believes Indonesia can tackle every challenge that arises, thus making the nation's economy stronger and more competitive.

Earlier, Pandjaitan stated that his side encourages deregulation, digitalization, and strategic programs as steps for economic transformation.
