Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Manpower and the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have agreed to jointly carry out capacity-building activities for up to 10 thousand micro and small businesses across Indonesia.

"We have just signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation for entrepreneurship training sessions between the Manpower Ministry and the MSME Ministry," Manpower Minister Yassierli informed at a press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday.

He expressed confidence that the two ministries possess the resources needed to implement the initiative, which is aimed at advancing the national MSME sector.

The agreement, he said, will be followed by large-scale nationwide entrepreneurship training activities, starting in May this year.

Yassierli added that the Ministry of Manpower will contribute to the program by utilizing its regional training centers as venues for the planned sessions as well as preparing instructors and the necessary modules.

"Since most aspects of this initiative fall within the MSME Ministry's domain, we will work in coordination with them," he said, while praising the ministry's success in developing a suitable ecosystem for MSMEs in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, MSME Minister Maman Abdurrahman echoed similar statements, saying the two ministries will mobilize their resources and assets to execute the joint program, which will begin simultaneously across regions in Indonesia.

He also emphasized that the planned capacity-building activities will target only micro and small businesses, not medium-sized enterprises, with the goal of reaching five thousand businesses in the initial stage.

"With further technical coordination between the two ministries, we can expect this initiative to expand to approximately 10 thousand such enterprises," he said.

Abdurrahman added that the collaboration is largely driven by President Prabowo Subianto's directive to enhance synergy among ministries in programs aimed at advancing the MSME sector.
