Jakarta (ANTARA) - Communication and Digital Affairs Minister Meutya Hafid underscored that digital transformation undertaken by Indonesia can also boost the businesses of players of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), provided it is implemented effectively.

In an official statement received here on Saturday, Hafid encouraged MSME players, particularly women, to embrace digital technology as part of digital transformation to boost their businesses.

Hafid stressed the importance of MSMEs marketing their products using increasingly diverse digital platforms, such as instant messaging, social media, and marketplace applications.

Hafid emphasized that utilizing all available platforms is crucial for MSMEs to expand their reach to broader networks.

Beyond promoting digital technology, the minister also reminded women MSME players to be aware of the negative impacts of digitalization.

The minister pointed out that online gambling poses a significant threat to Indonesians, particularly those unfamiliar with digital activities.

Minister Hafid warned that a lack of awareness among MSME players about online gambling risks could jeopardize the economic stability of their families.

"It does not only harm individuals but also reduces the purchasing power of the community. We must jointly fight this," she stressed.

To address this, Hafid is committed to enhancing digital literacy among community members, mainly focusing on women MSME players, through her ministry.

The minister highlighted the importance of educating MSMEs on digital transactions to ensure their safe and sustainable growth.

"We must make the digital space healthy and productive. In addition to online gambling, there are other threats, such as digital scams and negative content. For that reason, digital understanding of MSME players is crucial," she stressed.
