The cooperation was discussed by Bandung Mayor Muhammad Farhan and a representative of Nanning City during a meeting in Bandung on Tuesday.
Farhan welcomed the cooperation plan as an important step for Bandung to accelerate innovation in several strategic sectors.
"This is the 15th sister city cooperation for Bandung. We hope it can open opportunities in the development of technology of AI, agriculture, health, and green economy," he said.
He expressed the hope that the collaboration will enhance the capacity of the agricultural sector with the help of modern technology applied in Nanning and boost agricultural efficiency in Bandung, as well as expedite access to technology-based health services.
"We will see how agricultural technology developed there can be applied in Bandung, likewise with health services that can be more advanced with the help of technology," he informed.
He further said that cooperation in the field of green economy is also a major concern.
According to Farhan, Bandung has great potential to utilize the waste processing technology that has been applied in Nanning.
"When it comes to waste processing technology, there are two interesting things: first, how they process waste into renewable energy, and second, residue-free waste processing system," he said.
As a follow-up to this collaboration, the Bandung city delegation is scheduled to visit Nanning in September 2025.
Meanwhile, the representative of the Nanning city delegation, Nong Shengwen, highlighted the importance of cooperation in the field of AI.
He said that Nanning City has become a center for AI development in China and is ready to share its experiences with Bandung.
