I encourage Fujian province to open wider market access for Indonesian productsJakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin received a visit from the Secretary of the Communist Party of China’s (CPC’s) Fujian Provincial Committee, Zhou Zuyi, to discuss future investment plans.
"With investment coming to Indonesia, we hope it can support national economic growth. However, I ask investors to remain committed to maintaining environmental sustainability, involving local workers and domestic micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), increasing the capacity of Indonesian human resources, and supporting technology transfer," Amin informed at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.
Cooperation and investment aim to bring a positive impact to both parties, he noted.
He said he wants the benefits from the cooperation to not only be felt by the related parties but also by the wider community.
Vice President Amin then touched upon the value of trade between Indonesia and China, which has continued to show positive development, with the bilateral trade in 2022 reaching a new record of US$133.64 billion.
Taking note of the positive trend, he asked China, including Fujian Province, to open wider access for Indonesian products.
"I encourage Fujian Province to open wider market access for Indonesian products. Especially for seafood products, tropical fruits, and swallow's nest," he said.
Moreover, he also sought concrete support for overcoming obstacles to exporting Indonesia's swallow nest products to China.
In addition, the Vice President expressed the hope that Zuyi's visit to Indonesia would bring good benefits to the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Zuyi expressed his commitment to continue good cooperation with Indonesia.
He said he will ensure that all investors from Fujian investing in Indonesia comply with all applicable laws and pay attention to environmental sustainability.
"We ask them to follow local laws and regulations; also asking them to make the most of local resources and protect the environment. Moreover, I also ask companies investing in the Indonesian industry to encourage the welfare of the people around the industrial area," he added.
Separately, spokesperson for the Vice President, Masduki Baidlowi, said that during the meeting, Zuyi also outlined his vision regarding cultural exchanges between Indonesia and China as well as sister city or twin city cooperation between cities in Fujian and cities in Sumatra and Bintan Island.
"This sister city (cooperation) will be developed in various cities," Baidlowi added.
Besides Zuyi, the Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Lu Kang; Deputy Secretary General of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee Zhou Kuanfen; Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Fujian provincial people's government Li Lin; Director General of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the Fujian provincial people's government Huang Jinfa; and Director General of the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce Huang Heming, also attended the meeting.
