Prepared aid includes 34,000 tons of rice and 6.8 million liters of cooking oil across the three provinces affected by flood and landslides: Aceh (10,614 tons rice, 1,954 tons oil), North Sumatra (16,894 tons rice, 3,108 tons oil), and West Sumatra (6,795 tons rice, 1,250 tons oil).
“In an emergency situation like this, there can be no delays,” the minister said while leading an emergency meeting on speeding up food aid distribution for disaster response in Sumatra, here on Monday.
The step showed the government’s commitment to quick coordination during the emergency. He stressed that the government must fully support communities affected by flash floods and landslides in the three provinces.
“All personnel from the Ministry of Agriculture and Bapanas must move quickly, ensure food availability, and deliver aid immediately to the people,” he said.
The minister also ordered the accelerated distribution of government food reserves, including rice and other staples, in collaboration with state logistics agency Bulog and local governments.
Distribution posts were instructed to operate 24 hours a day, ensuring logistics routes remain clear.
Minister Amran added that the government is maintaining food supply and price stability amid the emergency and has also instructed data collection on damaged farmland and agricultural areas, in order to prepare assistance schemes for farming and livestock sectors.
“(Crop) seeds and livestock medicines have been prepared. I have asked all Directors General to focus on assisting our farmers and livestock breeders. Everyone must focus on helping the people,” he said.
