Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto has pushed for prioritizing quality over quantity in the selection of commissioners for state-run banks to ensure that only reliable and professional figures are appointed to the key positions, an official said.

"Mr. President has issued a directive to reduce the number of commissioners and ensure that they are all professionals," Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, informed after a limited meeting on the Macroeconomic Framework and Fiscal Policy Principles 2026.

Speaking at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Wednesday, he emphasized that the composition of the board of commissioners will be tailored to suit the specific needs of each national bank.

He assured the public that those appointed as commissioners will represent various strategic elements, including officials from the Finance Ministry and other relevant institutions.

"The directive is for commissioners to be solely professional figures," he reiterated.
