Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Transportation reminded the public to prepare for the closure of several transportation hubs in Bali ahead of the Silence Day (Nyepi) celebration in the area.

"Several transportation hubs in Bali will close their services for Nyepi on March 29, 2025," the ministry's Head of Communication and Public Information Bureau Budi Rahardjo stated on Thursday.

He elaborated that the suspension of transportation services aims to maintain a conducive situation and the tranquility of Balinese Hindus during the sacred day.

Transportation operational services will be halted at I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport, Gilimanuk Ferry Port, Padang Bai Ferry Port, Benoa Port, Sanur Port, and Nusa Penida Port.

"The closure will start on March 29 at 00:00 local time and will re-open on March 30 at 06:00 local time," Rahardjo revealed.

Consequently, the public should arrange their travel schedules carefully to avoid being stranded in Bali or facing travel delays.

Based on the ministry's monitoring through the 2025 Integrated Eid Transportation Center Post, there has been a surge in activity at several transportation hubs in Bali, such as airport and ferry ports, for arrivals and departures in the Bali area since March 21, 2025.

Currently, I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport has seen a rise in passenger movement and is the second-busiest airport during the 2025 Eid transportation period.

"From D-10 to D-6 of Eid (March 21-25, 2025), there were 1,778 aircraft movements, 278,053 passenger movements, and 1,177.32 tons of cargo that arrived and departed from I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport," Rahardjo specified.

Moreover, he reported that ferry activities have also seen an increase. Data from the state-owned ferry operator, PT ASDP, shows that 122,475 passengers traveled from Ketapang Port to Gilimanuk Port during the travel period of March 21-25.

Conversely, 234,105 passengers traveled from Gilimanuk Port to Ketapang Port.

"The ministry reminds prospective passengers to buy tickets before entering the port area and continue to prioritize safety and security aspects during the trip," Rahardjo stated.
