"We want to ensure the availability and accessibility of facilities and information, including safety, comfort, and personnel at exodus points and routes to serve vulnerable groups," Widyantini remarked here on Thursday.
The vulnerable groups include the elderly, persons with disabilities, pregnant women, children, and victims of natural and social disasters.
To ensure that public services can run well and are easily accessible to vulnerable groups, she highlighted several key considerations.
She explained that public service providers must ensure infrastructure and information accessibility.
In terms of physical accessibility, stakeholders are required to provide transportation and infrastructure facilities that cater to the needs of vulnerable groups.
There should be safe and comfortable access routes, including elevators, escalators, ramps, and other facilities.
Supporting amenities, such as disability-friendly toilets, comfortable waiting areas, and proper clinics, must also be available.
Regarding information accessibility, public service providers must ensure that the communities can easily access information, she stated.
Information about schedules, routes, ticket prices, and more should be readily available, and public communication should be conveyed through audio formats, text, and in simple language that is easy to understand.
The government has also encouraged community involvement in improving public services through the LAPOR! channel and by participating in public satisfaction surveys. Community participation will have a significant impact on improving the quality of public services.
This step aligns with Ministerial Regulation No. 11 of 2024 on vulnerable group-friendly public service provision.
