Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian authorities shifted focus to preparations for the reverse flow of this year's Eid homecoming exodus on Java Island after concluding the one-way scheme implemented across the Cikampek Utama and Kalikangkung toll gates on Sunday.

"We officially ended the national one-way scheme this morning as planned. Next, we will make preparations for the Eid reverse flow," Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi said in a press statement received here Sunday.

He observed that the flow of homecoming trips, which peaked on March 28, went smoothly, owing to sound coordination among ministries, the National Police (Polri), Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), state-owned enterprises, and private parties.

Purwagandhi thanked all parties, particularly the Polri, for significantly reducing traffic density by making adjustments to the implementation of the one-way scheme this year.

"Thanks to the police's initiatives, travelers had smooth, secure, and safe trips during the Eid homecoming exodus," he said.

The minister then reminded those planning to join the reverse flow to optimally arrange their trips to ensure safety and set out earlier to benefit from the 20 percent discount on toll road fees that will be available on April 3-4, 2025.

The fee reductions will be offered along the route connecting the Kalikangkung Toll Gate in Central Java with Cikampek Utama Toll Gate in West Java.

Meanwhile, Head of the National Police Traffic Corps Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho explained that the one-way scheme was concluded following the smoother flow of traffic observed since Saturday (March 29).

"We, along with Mr. Transportation Minister, have shifted our focus to the reverse flow. Last night, we devised feasible strategies for facilitating travelers during the Eid reverse flow," he said.
