"Traffic accidents declined by 34.31 percent in 2025 compared to 2024," he said at a press conference on the closing of the 2025 Eid al-Fitr Transportation Center Post in Jakarta.
The data was obtained from the Integrated Road Safety Management System (IRSMS) of the National Police (Polri) and covered the period from March 21 to April 11, 2025.
The Ministry of Transportation further reported that 7,095,675 passengers entered and left Jakarta using private vehicles during the Eid al-Fitr transportation period (March 21–April 11, 2025), an increase of 8.48 percent compared to 2024.
The total number of people's movements nationally during the Eid period was recorded at around 358,211,415.
According to Purwagandhi, there were several notable natural events during the Eid period, such as bad weather and the volcanic activities of several volcanoes, as well as operational issues in various modes of transportation.
The Transportation Ministry, together with related stakeholders, devised and implemented several policies during the 2025 Eid period, such as traffic engineering, which was carried out in cooperation with Polri; domestic airfare reduction; and toll road discounts.
The government also implemented flexible working arrangements for civil servants and state-run enterprise employees.
He expressed his appreciation to all stakeholders for organizing the Eid transportation this year. He also praised the community for participating in the Eid homecoming well and heeding the directions and instructions given by the government.
"For the Eid transportation, the government created various policies that are essentially aimed at facilitating the community," the minister added.
